Valkmusa is a little-known treasure of the Kymenlaakso region between Kotka, Pyhtää and Kouvola – a small piece of wilderness where the untouched bog invites you to slow down. Its charm opens up to the senses: the colours of the sphagnum mosses, the tartness of cranberries, the calls of migrating birds in spring and the flutter of bog butterflies in summer. When you take a moment to listen and look, the details start to appear: the call of a crane, lizards warming themselves on the duckboards, the scent of marsh Labrador tea.
On the guided walk you are accompanied by a nature and wilderness guide who knows Valkmusa well and can tell you about the park's bog types, its signature species and their behaviour. The route follows the duckboards and is easy to approach; it is suitable for everyone without mobility restrictions. Whenever possible we step off the duckboards to look for cranberry patches and a few characteristic species, so choose footwear that can handle some moisture.
The walk takes about 2 hours including preparations and starts from the Simonsaari parking area in Valkmusa National Park. Departure times are agreed according to your group's wishes between 10 am and 5 pm. Group size is 6–50 people; larger groups are divided into several guided parties.
The price of €232 includes 8 people, and each additional participant is €29. The price includes guiding and liability insurance. Snacks are not included but can be ordered for an extra charge. Bookings must be made at least three days before the walk. Retkipiste is a responsible partner of Metsähallitus (Parks & Wildlife Finland).
