Private Paddling Excursion with Visit to Our Private Wilderness Camp
What could be a better way to spend a team or team day than a private kayaking trip from Strömfors Ironworks to the beautiful and easily accessible western lower branches of the Kymijoki River with your own group? The kayaking trip starts at Strömfors Ironworks from where we paddle towards our private wilderness camp at the tip of the Hattarniemi cape. The kayaking route towards the scenic tip of the cape takes about an hour and passes through a few protected islands along the Kymijoki River.
In Hattarniemi, we enjoy some traditional local Finnish delicacies by the fire in the peace and silence. At the tip of the scenic cape Hattarniemi has camping facilities such as a picnic shelter, a picnic area and a wooden deck. Hattarniemi is a private destination and you can be left alone if you want have some private time while you eat.
From Hattarniemi we continue our kayaking trip towards the beautiful Saarela Nature Reserve. In the reserve, we paddle leisurely along the beautiful, smaller river braches, observing the nature and rich birdlife along the shores. After the Saarela reserve, the kayaking trip ends at the same place where it started, the Strömfos picnic area.
The canoe trip through the Hattarniemi private reserve and Saarela Nature Reserve is a memorable nature experience. The trip is made using modern, stable and lightly moving kayaks that move right on the surface of the water, as if you were part of the surrounding nature.
Paddling routes around Strömfors are easy and beautiful and there is hardly any other traffic in the Saarela protected area. Among the birds in the area, the grey heron, for example, has a strong population and is seen much more often than, say, other people.
The hike starts and ends at Strömfors Hiking Point and takes about 5 hours. The pace and route of the paddle is always adapted to suit the group. The minimum charge for a private canoe trip is 3 people.
In addition to a stable and easy to paddle kayak, Retkipiste will provide you with a guide, vest, paddles and other necessary equipment - all you need is weatherproof outdoor clothing, a water bottle and sun protection. Also, a hot water bottle and a coffee mug are included in the price.
